In this article of the Birmingham travel series, we decided to give you some recommendation about which places to visit for food and drinks. We all like exploring the culture of a new place, and we believe that the culinary arts are just as important as Birmingham’s numerous historical monuments.

- Tropea, 27 Lordswood Rd, Harborne, Birmingham B17 9RP – The taste of Italy in the heart of Birmingham. Tropea is a café during the day, offering hot espressos and pastry, but it turns into a magnificent Italian restaurant at night that serves many seasonal dishes.
- Sabai Sabai, Mosley/ Harborne/ Birmingham Central – With three locations splattered around the city, you know that Brummies love their Sabai Sabai. The restaurant specialises in Thai cuisine and it also offers many vegan options.
- The Edgbaston, 18 Highfield Rd, Birmingham B15 3DU – This boutique hotel is famous for its afternoon tea. Renowned chefs prepare delicious and extravagant bites to go with the lovely tea they offer.

- Tonight Josephine Birmingham, Unit 12, The Burlington, Stephenson St, Birmingham B2 4BL – Go back to the 1980’s with the eclectic neon décor of Tonight Josephine Birmingham. If you ever want a venue to hold your bachelorette party, this is the place.
- Be At One Birmingham, Piccadilly Arcade, Birmingham B2 4BJ – Get ready to get crazy. Be At One Birmingham is one of the most frequented bars in Birmingham, where you can be sure to have an unforgettable night.
- Gas Street, 52 Gas St, Birmingham B1 2JT – Gas Street Bar is a must-go for every cocktail connoisseur with its long list of creative and quirky drinks. You can also take a cocktail masterclass there.
- The Jam House Birmingham, 3-5 St Paul’s Square, Birmingham B3 1QU – Founded by Jools Holland himself, The Jam House is a rare gem in the Jewellery Quarter that is centred around the idea of good music and good vibes.
- The Botanist, House 14, Cheltenham, 16 Temple St, Birmingham B2 5BG – There are no words to describe The Botanist, you have to see it to believe how magical it is. The winter garden theme makes up half of the experience, and the other half is the delicious cocktails.
- Flight Club, 13 Temple St, Birmingham B2 5BN – If you ever fancy feeling like James Bond ordering your martini, then go ahead and visit Flight Club. The décor is mesmerising and the cocktails are heavenly.
Pubs
- One Trick Pony, 93 Alcester Rd, Birmingham B13 8DD – Indulge in a mouthwatering burger accompanied by the finest beers in town at One Trick Pony. The quirky pub also has beautiful hand-painted murals that would make the perfect Instagram picture.
- BrewDog Birmingham, 81 John Bright St, Birmingham B1 1BL – Part of the successful BrewDog chain, BrewDog Birmingham is a classic pub offering some of the most iconic British beers and bites to go with it.
- The Safe Harbour (The Diggers), Moor Ln, Birmingham B6 7AE – If you couldn’t get tickets for Aston Villa, but want to get the full football experience, then go ahead and visit The Safe Harbour. This traditional sports bar welcomes football fans and keeps them there with their great atmosphere and hearty pints.
- The Rose Villa Tavern, 172 Warstone Lane, Birmingham B18 6JW – You cannot mistake the Victorian building and its luscious stained glass. The Rose Villa Tavern is also famous for its long happy hours and the delicious food to accompany your drinks.
- The Victoria, 48 John Bright St, Birmingham B1 1BN – Another Victorian entry on the list that is most famous for its gloomy interior and apparently the presence of a ghost! The venue is truly unique and should be visited by anyone who first sets foot in Birmingham.
- The Old Joint Stock, 4 Temple Row West, Birmingham B2 5NY – The Old Joint Stock is a masterpiece of Victorian architecture that once served as a library. Now, it hosts regular cabaret and comedy shows, while offering a rich selection of food and drinks to indulge in.
